However, if Thomas Paine wrote common sense, I will not consider him being a bad model for me. Even if my pedagogical experience tells me, that sometimes caricature often can be usable tool to make common sense more visible.

On the, at least somewhat, original topic I must confess to have a split mind. Basically I find that especially bass lines should be written in bass clef concert. Because I have "almost" perfect pitch in that range. Works well for bassbone and bass tuba.

But I am not the greatest lover of ledger lines, so I find the British brass band treble clef notation for BBb tuba quite practical, as it keeps most notes inside, or in a reasonable distance from, the staff.
