OK... I've haven't told this to many people.
If you put the tuba upside down in a swimming pool and cover the mouthpiece receiver, you can SEE where the leaks are as you submerge it.
I did this with an old Miraphone and found a leak under a brace patch. Very effective even if it is a little awkward and nutty.
