Watch Clark Terry sometime to see it done right. Nothing comical about it; he makes it look as easy and natural as breathing. I think talent must have a lot to do with it. I saw a guy named Steve Hanson do it once on my tuba, sitting in with my band. (Are you out there Steve?) I think everybody should try it. If you have the gift (I don't) then you shouldn't waste it.
