Paul: Each tuba should have its own mike, positioned at the exact height of the bell on a stand, pointed at the lip of the bell. Players should sit not too closely opposed to each other in pairs. Record the entire session and piece together later. This technque overcomes room echo problems. The mixer-level should be set low for the highest player and high for the lowest player. Placing the mikes to the rear of the players minimizes "huff and puff" unless you want it in. Learned this the hard way. HCritchley
