I've done the same thing. Be prepared to sit in the back of the plane or in the bulk head (the bulk head is where it is supposed to be, but the steward/stewardesses don't always know). Be patient. They will search and search and search and ....... And then when you get on the plane, remember your patience. If push comes to shove, and the steward(ess) staff insist you have to put the instrument below or above (?) ask for the co-pilot to intervene. To the best of my knowledge, there are no restrictions as to what goes in a seat as long as it has been paid for and the co-pilot will know the rules and regulations.

I was told the instrument could not sit on the floor any more but rather had to fit in the seat. It will stick up blocking the view of the "no smoking, fasten seatbelt" sign and that is a violation. Think last row of seats or first class or bulk head and make the suggestions gently. Remind yourself to be patient - over and over!!! Then be willing to sit wherever they want you.

Enjoy the flight and be sure to "feed" the 2000.
