Not Bondo! You need two types of polyester resin: the laminating coats soak into the matte and remain a little sticky for bonding between coats; and the gel coats (into which you put the color, if any) which seal the whole mess off with a non-sticky coat. Use acetone for thinning and cleanup. If you want a smooth look, sand between coats.
A commonly available brand is Evercoat. Check out marine and auto supply places. They'll have the mat and the two-part resin. Use with good ventilation--the stuff stinks to high heaven like burning styrene.
