Here's another vote for the Rudy Meinl line of instruments. A particularly good choice for your situation would be the 5/4 model. I've never played one of their 6/4 BBb tubas but it might be a bit too large if you were the only player. It also might just suck the life right out of you! The only knock I have on the Rudy BBb tubas is that they have a side pull main tuning slide which makes it difficult to install a tuning device to manipulate the slide. I've installed such devices on all my horns that need it and I've really enjoyed the freedom of only having to move one slide (the main) to adjust pitch. The CC version of the Rudy 5/4 has a vertical main slide and would solve this problem. Current list in the Brasswind catalog is $7995.00 so you would have plenty of money left over for a good gig bag, mouthpieces, mute, and the best flight trunk available. Good luck!

My opinion for what it's worth...
