I played it under the direction of Mark Hindsely around 1950 or so. He was the guest conductor of the Carnegie Institute of Technology Symphonic Band invited by Dr. Schaeffer the regular conductor. It is a really wonderful and effective arrangement. We had a very good band at that time comprised mostly of WW II vets who had spent several years playing in the service bands. Our performances in Pittsburghs Carnegie Hall and also in the NYC Carnegie Hall were standing room only. In many cases the standees were from the local philharmonic orchestra and included Bill Bell!
