Consider the contributions some of the composers you may not think of as primarily wind band composers...
Kurt Weill - Threepenny Music (a great contribution discussed here earlier, although not specifically originating for the ensemble.)
Penderecki - Pittsburgh Overture (for American Wind Symphony.. lots of commissions there)
Milhaud, Messaien....
and all those you know... one of my favorites, Gordon Jacob's William Byrd Suite.
Just took a wind lit class fall quarter... I am happy I remembered something!
