I have a Weril BBb for use in my studio with smaller students and with more advanced students (Smaller folks can more easily handle the horn, more advanced can concentrate on lyric quality in tone). I am quite fond of the horn and voluntarily check it out a couple times a week. It is not, however, a truly great horn. Now, yesterday, at The University of Georgia International Brass Quintet Competition, I found a vendor offering test trialls on a YCB621, the Yamaha pattern for the Weril horns. IT WAS SENSATIONAL!
Really a fine horn, good sound, full low end lyric upper register. However, that horn would run more than $6000 with tax and the Weril cost $2000. As good as the YCB621 was, it was not 3 times better than the Weril (maybe one and a half, but not 3). Just thought the comparison may help you.
