If you buy a new 45SLP, you shouldn't have any problems at all. The valves on the new horns are made by Meinl Weston and have been holding up well. The 2145, 55, and 65's that were having the valve issues mostly had valves that Meinl Weston bought. At the time, they were not set up to make their own pistons. Now they make everything. I haven't heard any complaints about the 45SLP valves at all. (That doesn't mean their aren't any...I just haven't heard them) The only complains I've heard about that horn at all are about the height of the lead pipe and the stroke on the valves. I think the new 45SLP's have a pipe that is slightly lower. The stroke on the valves is something I think we're stuck with. It's a little long, but I haven't met anyone that couldn't get used to it.

I hope this helps!
