I was playing trumpet in a professional production of "Brigadoon". Those of you who are familiar with this show know that there are LONG periods of dialog between musical numbers. The conductor dozed off. When the concertmaster gently poked him with her bow to signal that an orchestra entrance would soon be required, the conductor startled to his senses and instantly began waving his baton in 4/4. No one played, no one sang. The audience caught on to what had happened and tittering could be heard. Of course, the orchestra was almost disabled by their own laughter.
