Although I am admittedly not a superb technical player, I think a good comparison for reading music (especially fast, technical music) might be that of written sentences. If you think about it, you aren't reading each letter individiually, they just stream together to form words... For example, when you see the word "monkey" you see it as a word and not as the individual words M, O, N, etc... And as a continuance of this, words stream together to form sentences, you probably don't notice every single word in "the monkey became angry and threw bananas," you just understand the meaning of the sentence. Now, how to make music work that fluidly, I don't know... Anyone care to expound upon this?
