Based on what you have posted the 188 would probably be a good match for you. Those horns are amazingly easy to play. Lightning fast response. Good intonation. While I don't pretend to completely understand what sound you are trying to describe I would imagine that the 188 would be a good starting point to try new mouthpieces on until you did find your sound.

What you are describing kind of sounds like an Alexander to me. You might keep your eye out for a new or used one. Also, if you have the cash check out the Perantucci line. It has been said those horns are atleast tenuously based on Alexander designs. A rotory PT-3 or 4 in conjunction with the appropriate mouthpiece would probably be right down your alley in terms of sound and once you learn to blow one of those horns they play just as easily as a Miraphone 188. In the long run I would be happier with the sound of a Perantucci but I'm biased.
