Yes, the RVW second has a wonderful tuba part. Not too technical, though not trivial. Sometimes part of the trombone section, other times its own voice. A lovely quiet solo at the end, if I'm remembering correctly.
It's a big sounding work, and the tuba player can make good sounds without fear of upsetting the general orchestral tutti. Separate from the tuba part, it's a nice piece of music. It's varied, tuneful, colorful, and occasionally surprising. You will enjoy the experience.
