Ya know, you could make an Eb into a D really easily. Add a 1/2 step valve (rotor) into the leadpipe right before the first valve. If you pull the valve slides a bit this would work. I DON'T think it would work on a compensating instrument, though. Hey Joe S., take that old Eb of yours and put a 1/2 step valve in the leadpipe and tell us how it works. It goes along with your 'cut off' valve idea.
