I've only played 3 of the CB/G-50 tubas, and they were consistant. If you order a tuba and it doesn't work for you, most places will allow you to return it within two weeks.
The word on the street is that Getzen is going to stop production. There are probably enough tubas already produced to last a couple of years, so no hurry.
