I had to add my two cents to this post. I am currently the only tuba player in our local community band and I would love some help. Up until last year we always had at least 2 of us and it makes a big difference. Yes, the British brass band arrangements do need that many tubas to cover all of the parts, but even the arrangements which you commonly run into in bands in the US need more than one tuba to provide enough support. Try holding a low f for 10 measures at fortissimo by yourself and you know what I mean. I need to learn circular breathing just to be able to cover the parts by myself. In orchestral arrangements you have all of those string basses to fill in much of the bass line. I am on my own and would love some help.
