Ross,

Something not already mentioned is swimming. Now I realize that it is not horn-specific, but the reasons work just the same. Swimming is not a good exercise for someone wanting to lose weight, because in the water there is little resistance provided, and you are nearly weightless anyway.

But swimming IS an excellent cardio-pulmonary exercise. When you get into the water, the weight of the water pushes against you, making it harder to breathe. Even treading water for 10-15 minutes is a good exercise for increasing lung capacity AND efficiency. Swim-sprints, water volleyball, water-basketball and other types of fun activities work well, also. Of course, lung capacity won't increase if you're just panting shallow breaths. You still have to take in all the air you can each time you breathe, and let it out in a controlled manner. It works, and best of all, it's fun!
