Our 12 year old son plays a BBb and has outgrown his 3/4 Deg, in terms of his playing ability. He would like a new tuba, full size (the bigger the bell the better) but as you may know, you just can't go out and test them - most music stores don't have them in stock. The names I hear most are Conn, King, Cerveny and Mirafone with Mirafone being the one everyone says they would buy if they had an unlimited budget. We found a store in Boston, Mass. that had a few tuba in stock. Our son tested a Yamaha and a Winston 941, which is manufactured by Cerveny. The Yamaha was too big around for him to comfortably hold, the Winston was nice and and our son liked it. We know nothing about tuba's or what is good brand. Do certain manufactures make better BBb? Any help would be appreciated.
