Before taking any drastic measures the owners of these horns may also want to make sure the end bearings are tight. If the bearings get sloppy the rotors will hang on the casing at a lower temperature. I had the valves on my 5/4 Hirsbrunner hot lapped a few years back but they still hung up on warm days and felt sluggish at best on cool ones. Last summer Kevin Powers refit (Swedged down) the end bearings for me and the valves have not hung up once since then. (Even on a 103 degree day we had last August at the Hollywood Bowl!)
