If you ever want to hear some totally wild brass quintet things, then try to find a copy of Meridian Arts Ensemble's "Smart Went Crazy". This is a brass quintet who loves to play anything and everything. I particularly like this CD because it has a Frank Zappa set that they do and a version of Jimi Hendrix's Purple Haze. This group was up at Crane School of Music in Postdam last year and the place was sold out for it. This just goes to show you that anything that a brass quintet plays can be good.
