Minor dents in big tubing don't normally have an effect on the sound,
but there are always exceptions. Removing dents from your bell
shouldn't be a structural problem, and is usually quick, cheap, and
easy. You shouldn't be asking the bell to support a lot of weight
anyway. Getting rid of scratches isn't so easy -- buffing removes
metal, which can affect sound, and there's only so much silver before
you run into brass. Replating is an option, but expensive.
