They used to sell a Brace Relief Sheild which was a rubber band that you insert between the teeth and gum. It has worked for many of my studnets who play the smaller mouthpieces. the only problem is I do not know how current this addresss and phone number are. good luck. Braces can bee a real "pain" litersally and figuratively. I think it may be a bit much though to come back after just one week. i usually have my students take a week off after they get braces just to let the mouth get used to all the new stuff. ken k
