I have played a Miraphone 188 CC tuba for the past three years, and found it to be a very versatile instrument. It is at home in large bands and orchestras (and large concert halls) as much as it is in smaller brass quintet chamber music settings.
I did have Matt Walters refurbish the horn, and install a new lead pipe which was a little larger than the one that came with the horn. The horn was circa 1978, and had a rotted leadpipe. Hope this information is helpful.
