Interesting comments, Dale. I too was a subscriber to TUBA Journal, but discontinued the subscription because of some of the reasons you mention.

I found the publication to be of "mixed" quality. There were parts that I really enjoyed. Some of the articles and pictures were very informative, and I always was pleased when TUBA showed up in my mail box. However, I became weary of the fact that a disproportionate share of the pages were devoted to advertisements. When the price went up to $10 per issue, that's when I jumped ship. After all, I am not willing to pay a lot of money to see over and over the same old "clubby" ads and pictures of euphonium players with "Dr." in their titles. (I suspect this remark may generate some hate mail.)
