All of the above. You have to take into account your embouchure size, and what horn you are playing on. I think that finding what is just right for you is more important than whether it is considered large or small. For example, I have a large, fairly flat embouchure, and I use a Bruno Tilz M9, like the old Perantucci 9, for my small Eb; the mouthpiece that works best for me on a large BBb or CC tuba is larger than anything commercially available today. I have had success in finding something that works and sticking with it, not continually seeking the "perfect" mouthpiece. Hope this helps.
