Reiner ordered one for CSO and Mr. Jacobs said he put it in the lowest reaches of Orchestra Hall, never to be seen again. In a lesson, he told me that a former student had gotten so frustrated with the fingering system that he poured a bag of cement in the bell and threw it off the pier into Lake Michigan.
I eventually had some tubing switched around so that 1,2,3 were in the right hand, but I had to sell it or go crazy myself.
It's probably just an interesting tuba, I would take a wild guess in the over/under $1000 range.
