I've read Carl Steinbeurger's web site and I thought that his contrabass trumpet something else (was neat). I've also read and saw a picture of Roger Bobo playing a contrabass french horn. I just would like to know who makes these instruments (besides Carl Steinbeurger)? Are these instruments always custom made for the specific players? Do they actually sound like tubas? Would you bring that to an orchestra in place of the tuba knowing that it does the exact same thing? How much do they cost? Has anybody played on one before? How did you like it compared to the tuba (If it isn't a type of tuba already)? All other opinions- information is welcomed.
