Ive had my Rudy 5/4 for about 7 years. I was skeptical at first, but it works great for me. I have compaired it with horns costing about twice as much, and, while there may be certain things I like about those instruments, they just don't give me the overall consistancy that I have in the Rudy. I don't think the 5/4 is right for every application. It is a stretch to solo or play quintet on it. However, I just heard a great solo CD with the tubist from the Kansas City Symphony, Steve Seward, playing much of the album on the 5/4. It is called "Kansas City Dances" from Walking Frog Records. If you have any doubts about the instrument you should listen to him play. Some really phenomenal stuff here!
