James's post a couple steps up is the first clear description I've heard of what the G50's rotor will do -- thanks, James! Finally, some light is shed in public on the mystery gymnastic 5th valve.

If I knew where to purchase a CC-to-BBb main slide, I'd say so, but I don't. A competent repairman or fabricator with the resources might be able to draw one up. I can't see a way to convert a BBb to CC by simple plugging in a different tuning slide -- you'd need to cut the horn for that (not for the faint-hearted, like me).

For a different 5th slide, you might be able to have a slide built to drop it from a whole step to a 2-step, but I doubt the other way around would work without more cutting. It's always easier to add length than to take it away.

As for me & my VMI 3302, we're doing just fine, and the wind ensemble's tuba pair has never sounded better.

Seeya,
Leland
