Just bought a Dillon Sheridan S3 for my Besson 983 (pretty much what Pat is using these days last I spoke to him) The S3 gives you the ability to project over accompaniment with less effort. I plan to use it when the music stays in and above the staff as the low register is the weak point on this mouthpiece with that tuba.
Pat claims that the extra metal at the throat juncture gives more projection and that the Perantuccis, by way of the design at the throat exterior, waste energy at that point. These mouthpieces were produced in collaboration with Warburton. They are well made and won't set you back as much as the Yamaha Custom Bobo and the Monettes and Decks. They do make the Perantuccis seem like relative bargains.
