How 'bout America? It seems to me that it's a totally different scenario. For 2 and a quarter centuries, the predominant sociopolitical factors in the US have been derived directly from Europen tradition. Our nationalistic tunes' uncanny resemblance to those of Europe are to be expected. China, however, has some of the deepest national roots, extending back millennia. Therefore, this can be seen as an anomaly.
Now, if Native Americans had remained sovereign over the Americas and had adopted such a style in their nationalistic music, it would be equally as interesting.
