'yet you are playing on an old pre-PT B&S F tuba. Many people would say most of those old B&S F's had really rank intonation. I tested one out a few years ago. It was probably made in the late 70's. It had a pretty nice sound, but I mostly remember the 'F' in the staff was REALLY flat. About (AT)35 cents flat. If you lipped all you could, you could maybe get it up to 15 cents or so, and still keep the core to the sound.
