The Yamaha isn't as small as it looks. It's compact, but it has a large bore for a piston F, and if the bell had the same flare as many tubas, it would be a 17 or 18" bell judging from the throat.

I've seen a rotary F that at first I thought was a euphonium. It had a 12" bell and stood about 31 or 32" tall. The bore was in the low .6's, and I could hardly make sounds on it. Some of the Barlow F's were that small, too. The Yamaha looks huge in comparison, mostly because of the wide-throated bell stack.
