For some reason, when I am playing great in the pedal range, I am also playing great in the high range. Take Bordogni and other song-like etudes down an octave, maybe even two octaves. You will find that once they start sounding good down there, your high range will open up. I dont know exactly why, something to do with how you use your air, but it definitely helps.

You should work the high stuff too, mind you, but you can only do that so long before fatigue sets in. You can play in the low/pedal range all day (literally), and boredom will come before fatigue...
