Does anyone think these halftime spectaculars, especially at the high school level, are aimed at the fans in the stands? Hardly. It's all about getting ready for the big marching band competition. But, of course, winning "sweepstakes" (do they still use those silly terms?) is much more important than their audience.
If the band is lucky, maybe they'll win a bigger trophy than the football team.
