No, I meant that Americans have tended to a deeper euphonium sound, having started with a lighter sound. I don't know what the trend has been in Britain, or even if there has been a trend other than to the use and severity of vibrato. Interestingly, American wind bands during the days when they used smaller U.S.-made baritones also had Eb tubas. I don't know if there is a connection there, but the departure of Eb tubas from most bands has definitely opened up that tonal gap.
