I know what you mean first hand.

In the middle of May I was in Ft Worth at the TCU regional. I have an allergy problem that kicked in plus the smoke from burning the fields in Mexico - my sinuses kicked in and I thought I was going to die! I tried playing a horn there and just coughed when taking a big breath. The next day I took off on an early morning flight back to Chicago and played Fantastique that afternoon. The air was a lot better in Chicago (as it was early for the allergies) and I played the concert with little problem.

The opposite happened a few weeks later - allergy season kicked in Chicago and I was dying from it when I made a trip to Tucson for the regional there. While the allergies got a break, 105 degree temps were a pain (yea, I know about the dry heat rap). Personally, I try to stay way from outside concerts during May and June - it is no fun playing a concert when a sinus attack comes, it's no fun.
