You should consider having several versions of your resume catering to the different groups emphasizing your skills that would best meet the needs of those organizations. IMHO if I were sending a resume to a performance organization I’d want to emphasize the groups I’ve played in and spend less space on my exceptional experience selling TV’s at Circuit City. If sending the resume to a marketing organization I’d spend more space on the sales experience and include the musical experience.
Remember – you are selling yourself so you need to customize the resume to your “customer”. Also – it’s OK to market yourself but don’t falsify anything – it will come back to haunt you.
