Richard Frazier, who purchased the little euphonium-sized Besson F from Mr. Jacobs, commented that it did have intonation issues, but in his words "It was the loudest F I ever played".

He later sold it to buy an Alex F and has mixed feelings about not keeping it.

Mr. Jacobs had access to a number of instruments, yet he chose to record the VW with the little Besson. If it was so awful, why did he use it?
