Coda Music likes to put out a new version of Finale every year. Sounds great, huh? The product stays up to date. All the latest bells and whistles. The problem is that newer files aren't compatible with older versions. If you're into sharing files, anything you produce with Finale 2003 can't be opened with 2002, 2001, etc.

It is possible to save your work as a midi file and open in other formats, but what you get will only be close to the original, not identical.

Obviously, Coda does this to force more people to update (and pay $75 each). Personally, I think scams like this should be banned, especially since they don't tell you ahead of time that older versions can't use your work.
