If you've ever heard a trumpet player try to play a piccolo trumpet like a Bb or C, then you've experienced what Sean is talking about. When I was an undergrad, there was a high note jazzer that thought he should be able to play a piccolo like his Bb. It was the most awfull noise I'd ever heard. Playing our high horns is no different, be it F or euph. They are related, but differnet and need to be learned as such, IMHO.
