I don't know the private web site you saw but the BBb tuba market has ALWAYS been the dominant market in the US. CC tubas are a small percentage of sales, there's no pendulum to swing.
You shouldn't characterize the sales of CC tubas as a "craze," they are a choice made for artistic purposes.
