Thanks for the suggestions, guys--I really appreciate it. I stewed awhile on the subject and located a source for Soundblaster Live! PCI cards at about half the combined price of the MIDIMan or Roland adapters and a new (12') MIDI cable. I can disable the on-the-motherboard sound chipset pretty easily and I figure the Soundblaster card will give me better audio quality. I guess I can part with the card slot.
