I've tried it a few times and seriously considered purchasing one or two for my former band in Atlanta. In fact, I had three shipped to the band and I was able to try them for an extended period.

I imagin you like the Besson for it's sound. It has a great core of the sound that, I believe, isn't there with the Willson or the Hirsbrunner. The Meinl comes close... but with better valves (than the Besson).

The problem I (and others at the band) had was that I couldn't get the Eb above the staff in tune. It was 40 cents sharp! Now, the pitch on the Meinl is really easy to bend, so if I "just" 20 cents sharp, I'd have probably bought the horns.

Overall, I think it is a really good horn except for the pitch up there. If you can get it in tune without making your face look like Mr. Ed, then I'd consider it. (no offense intended if you already happen to look like Mr. Ed)

Best,

Alan
