There's a few questions here.

First, regarding the nylon guides. I don't think durrability is that big of an issue. I've talked to guys who get several years out of their nylon guides on other models. Once the valve is initially tapped, replacing the guides is simply a matter of screwing in a new set. The guides themselves are pretty cheap.

Regarding having the pistons vented. On my horn, the 2nd valve in particular made an audible "pop" durring slurs prior to having it vented. The others were ok, but I had them all vented for uniformity. And yes, it played cleaner after venting.

The first valve was also lapped, since it was a bit too tight for my tastes.

Again, I can only say that on my horn, the modifications resulted in valves that were faster and quieter than stock. I would definitely recomend it for the money.
