Venting valves has a real and measurable difference on the mechanical aspect of the horn. When one moves a slide without depressing a valve, the slide still moves without build pressure or creating a vacuum. This helps tremendously when adjusting slides for intonation in fast passages. It eliminates the pop when the valve that has been moved is used which eliminates a impact on the articulation of the associated not. It has positive effects and when done by a skilled repairman, no negative effects whatsoever. That will probably be my next horn modification.
