I use our home's family room for practice, which is in a central open area of my house (adjoining the kitchen). Vaulted ceilings (13') at the peak, no parallel walls (the house is built in roughly a crescent shape), tile and hardwood floors give the room a nice live feeling without echo. My wife and I both have ensembles rehearse here and many people have commented that the space seems to be designed for music-making.

It also helps that the closest neighbor is over 200 yards away and behind a ridge...
