Steve, you can not be serious about suggesting a YEB 321S for use in a serious brass band. The YEB 321S is relevant in the same area as the YEP 321S: beginners and amateurs without any real ambitions. They are the ones, that need instruments as "user friendly" as the Yamaha 321 series.

As for the Yamaha 4 valve comp Eb the problem is the feature, that Yamaha claims to be a main quality: the thin walling of the inner tubing.

That might improve response, but even for a non-agressive, low pressure player like me that instruments rattles above anything like mf. And the Yamaha Eb comper hardly is generally backed by its players for its intonation qualities.

I have not had the chance to test the Hirsbrunner and Courtois Eb compers, but among the rest of that species only the Besson 981 is relevant for me.
